Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using players’ feet, but also their bodies, excluding arms and hands (except for the goalkeeper). Soccer is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

The game is governed by specific rules called the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The most prestigious competitions in soccer include international tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and various professional leagues around the world, such as the English Premier League, La Liga in Spain, and Serie A in Italy.

Soccer is characterized by its continuous play, with games typically lasting 90 minutes, divided into two halves. It is known for its global popularity, being one of the most-watched and followed sports worldwide, with millions of participants and fans.
